There are a lot of definitions that identify precisely the concept of Datawarehouse, we can easily quote:
"a platform on which data coming from the different areas of the organization are filed; these data are updated, integrated and consolidated by the operating systems to assist all the decisional support applications" (Gartner Group)
The Datawarehouse is a collection of data to assist the decisional process, by the Datawarehouse the management has the concrete opportunity to find the answers to all the questions that affect the company performances; who covers decisional roles has to use all the instruments to lead the company in a safe way.
The typical problems of the management concerning the use of the data can be sum up as follows:
